Inclement Weather Policy - updated 12/1/2007
The Hagerstown YMCA will Close under the following conditions:
- Parking lot
conditions at the YMCA are such that is or soon will be difficult to navigate
in the lot.
- A “State of Emergency” is issued by the Maryland Dept.
of Transportation.
If Washington County Public Schools:
- close all day, all (youth & adult)
6AM – 2PM classes and programs
are canceled. A Notice at 2:00 pm will be issued for afternoon/evening classes
and programs.
- close early, a Notice at 2:00 pm will be issued for afternoon/evening
classes and programs.
Saturday, Sunday, and School Holidays:
- Listen to Radio Stations WJEJ 1240 AM
or WHAG 1510AM

Membership Eligibility
The YMCA of Hagerstown is open to boys, girls, men, and women of good moral
character. Any individual, regardless of age, race, sex or religious affiliation,
who subscribes to the goals, policies and purpose of this Association, may
become a member.
Membership/Participant Responsibilities
The Hagerstown YMCA is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment
for all of our members and guests. To this degree the YMCA of Hagerstown will
not accept membership or participation of those individuals who are listed
as Sexual Offenders on a Sexual Offenders Register. The ensure safety and comfort
for all, we ask individuals to act appropriately at all times when they are
in the facility or participating in YMCA programs. We expect persons using
the YMCA to behave in a mature and responsible way, and to respect the rights
and dignity of others.
Our Code of Conduct does not permit language or action that can hurt or frighten
another person or that falls below a generally accepted standard of conduct.
Specifically this includes:
- Angry or vulgar language, including swearing, name
calling and shouting;
- Physical contact with another person in an angry or threatening way;
- Any demonstration of sexual activity or sexual contact with another person
- Harassment or intimidation by words, gestures, body language, or any other
menacing behavior;
- Behavior which intends to, or results in, the theft or destruction of property;
- Carrying or concealing any weapons or devices which may be used as weapons;
- Wearing of attire which exposes undergarments.
- Use of YMCA facilities, equipment, or services for personal financial gain.
- Solicitation for sale of products or services on YMCA property.
Members are encouraged to be responsible for their own personal comfort and
safety and to ask any person whose behavior threatens their personal comfort
to refrain. Please do not hesitate to notify a staff person if you need assistance.
The YMCA Management will investigate all reported incidents.
Suspension or termination of YMCA membership privileges may result from any
violation of the Code of Conduct.
Payment Plans
- Automatic Drafts - authorizes your bank to pay your membership monthly
through your checking account, savings account, MasterCard or VISA.
- Payment
in Full – cash,
check, or credit card payment for the full annual fee.
Start-Up Fee
A fee for new members and current members who do not renew within 30 days
of their expiration date.
Financial Aid
No one will be denied a membership due to financial constraints. Financial

Corporate
Membership
The YMCA offers corporation fitness and fun to their employees at a corporate
price. Call Sharee O'Haver-Buberl (301.739.3990) for detailed information.
Guest
Policy
Guests are welcomed at the Hagerstown YMCA. A guest is limited to no more
then three (3) visits per year and must pay the daily dues fee. Guests may
have limited access between 4PM-7PM Monday thru Friday; or any time depending
on facility usage. Photo ID required. Adult must accompany guests under 16.
If out of town, please speak with a member service representative for extended
stays.
A.W.A.Y. Program
The "Always Welcome at YMCA" program is a benefit to all Hagerstown
YMCA members. Presenting your membership card at more than 1,000 YMCAs nationwide
gives you access to all YMCA facilities free or at discounted rates. The
Hagerstown YMCA allows twelve (12) visits per year without charge from other
full facility member YMCAs. Visiting YMCA members may be denied access based
on usage/capacity levels.
Membership Cards
You must have your membership card with you at all times. Access will be
denied without your card.
Child Watch Hours – Children are limited to two (2) hours per session.
Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
Monday - Thursday 4:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Friday 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Saturday 7:45 am - 11:30 am
Overview
All members and guests share the responsibilities for the proper care and use
of facilities and equipment. Persons abusing YMCA property will be subject
to prosecution and/or revocation of membership. Members who allow others to
use their card or otherwise assist non-members in using the facility without
payment of proper fees are subject to suspension or revocation.
Attire
T-shirts, shorts and basketball or tennis shoes required in all fitness areas.
Swim suits required for all swim periods. No T-shirts or cutoff pants permitted
in the pools. Showers are required before using the pools.
No Smoking
A smoke-free environment policy insures a safe, healthy exercise environment.

Cell/Camera Phones & Video Recording Devices
A cell phone-free environment policy insures a privacy of each individual
participating at the YMCA.
Cell/Camera phones are prohibited from use in all
indoor and outdoor areas other than the main lobby, personal offices, and
parking lots.
Cameras and Video/audio recording devices are prohibited from
use in all indoor and outdoor areas, with the exception of implied authorization
to record sports or youth class activities. Implied authorization would require
that a dependant member of the family must be participating in the sport
or activity at that time.
Food & Drinks
Prohibited in gym, pools, and locker rooms. Bottled water with a screw top
will be permitted past the Front Desk. No soda cans, cups, sport drinks, nor
coffee will be permitted in the locker rooms or in the gym to observe programs
or games. Please help us to maintain a clean, beautiful building. Persons may
eat and drink in the designated area outside pool area windows (tables and
chairs located in this area which is the hallway between Directors' Offices
and Day Care Center).
Dressing (Locker) Rooms
Girls/Young Adult (ages 0-21) - for females only.
Boys/Young Adult (ages 0-21) - for males only.
Family/Special Needs - to be used by parents with children of the opposite
gender or adults needing assistance due to physical limitation(s).
Women's Dressing Room (ages 21+) - for adults only.
Men's Dressing Room (ages 21+) - for adults only.
No children allowed in either
the Women's or Men's Dressing Rooms at any time.
Please use appropriate dressing
rooms. Any member not using the dressing rooms appropriately will have their
membership terminated.
